Using Overage to Buy Diapers at CVS

I mentioned in my weekly deals post that I’d be stocking up on Huggies this week. My goal was to use other on-sale/ECB/coupon items to increase my savings on the diapers. I have $1.50 and $2 off coupons from the Huggies mailer, but by adding these items to my transaction, I can do even better:

  • Alavert is on sale this week for $5.99. I have a $4 off coupon, then I earn $3 ECBs. That’s $1.01 overage that’s applied to my diaper cost.
  • The least expensive CVS Sunscreen is $2.39, and this week it’s on sale for .39. I have $1 off coupons, which give me .61 overage for my diapers.
  • The Children’s Advil is a monthly deal, free-after-ECBs. Whenever you combine a coupon with a free-after-ECB item, you get overage.

Here’s the breakdown of my transaction:

3 Huggies Diapers 26.97 (used 5.50 coupons)
1 Alavert 5.99 (4.00 coupon from here)
1 Children’s Advil 5.79 (1.00 from here plus a $2.50 CRT off any painkiller)
1 CVS Sunscreen .39 (1.00 coupon from Beauty Handbook)
2 Dove bags 6.00 (two 1.50 coupons from ?? paper)
2 M&M bags 4.00 (1.50 coupon from 6/1 paper)
1 Diet Coke 1.49 (1.49 coupon from MCR)

My total was $50.63, I used a $10/$50 from the magic scanner machine and my $19.99 in manu coupons, bringing it down to $20.64. I paid with a $19.98 ECB from the Photo DVDs a few weeks back, paid .95 out of pocket (basically, just the tax), and I earned $18.79 in ECBs. Plus, I can submit my receipt to Caregiver’s Marketplace and get another $3.00 added to my rebate (I do this monthly). To top it off, I got another $10/$50 CRT at the end of my receipt.

In summary, I spent $1.19 ECBs and .95 cash for (among other things) 3 Jumbo Packs of Huggies. Ignoring the rest of the order, I paid .03 cents per diaper!

PS–I am not going to eat that chocolate. We have a big birthday party coming up, so it’s going out then.

You go, girl! Don’t forget you can get ECBs on two Advils right now (it says one, but believe me, two works). Also the $2/$10 are still good for a smaller transaction. HTH

You do an awesome job getting great deals – thanks for sharing all your great information!!

With that said, be careful with that CVS Suncare coupon. I was going to do the same deal…but after reading the coupon it is only for the 3oz and up bottle. (not for the 2.19 2 ox size)
