Giant this week 1/30

Giant is a grocery store specific to the DC area and some parts of Delaware and New Jersey.

Remember that most Giants are now doubling coupons up to .99.

Super G Boneless Chicken Breast is $1.79/lb. This is a stock-up price, as it hasn’t gone lower than $1.79 or $1.69/lb at Giant in the last year.

Quilted Northern 24pk or Brawny Paper Towels 8pk are $5.99. There were coupons for $1.00 off each in the 1/18 paper.

Mix & Match any 2 Doritos, Lay’s or Tostitos Chips plus 2 24oz Jars of Tostitos Salsa for $8.00. You must buy 4 items: 2 chips and 2 salsa. Limit one offer per transaction.

Heluva Good Dip is $1.67 each, and most stores will double this printable .50 off, making the dip just .67.

Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks are 4 for $6.00 when you buy 4 (otherwise they ring up at a higher price). There were coupons in the 1/4 paper for all the different varieties.

Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice is $1.67, and you can print a coupon for $1.00 off the Diet variety.

Bob Evans Sausage and Side Dishes are on sale $2.00, $2.50, and $3.00. There were coupons in the 1/25 paper that were low enough to double (.35 and .50 off).

Arm & Hammer 2X Detergent is $3.99, and you can print a $1.00 off coupon here (click on Get Coupons at the top).

Freschetta Pizza is $5.00, and there was a $1.00 off coupon in the 1/4 paper. When you buy one Freschetta Pizza you get a Giant brand 2ltr soda and a Giant brand carton of ice cream for FREE. This is advertised on the back page, so take the ad to the register in case you have any problems with the two items ringing up FREE.

Also, my favorite new thing at Giant is FREE Trident Gum. The regular packs are $1.29 regular price, so I use the .75 off coupon from the 1/18 paper, which they double, making it FREE.

Safeway this week 1/28

NOTE: Safeway deals are also applicable to their partner stores: Dominicks, Genuardis, Vons, Pavilions, Tom Thumb, Randalls, and Carrs.

I am typing up this week’s ad with not one, not two, but THREE stir-crazy children hanging on my lap, so please forgive me if I miss anything:

Safeway or Manor House Chicken Party Wings are $5.00 for a 4lb. package.

Nabisco Snack Crackers are $1.69 each. This is a great price, made even better with the $2.00/2 coupon in last Sunday’s paper 1/25.

Campbell’s Chunky Soup is .99/can. There were coupons in the 1/18 paper, but the amounts varied by region.

Tyson Breaded Chicken Selections are BOGO at $4.49, which makes them reasonably priced for a change. I occasionally buy them at Target, but this is a pretty good price. If you still have any of the $1.00 off coupons from the 10/19 paper, that’s even better.

Hillshire Farm Lit’l Smokies or Smoked Sausages are $2.50 each, and there was a coupon for $1.00/2 in the 1/25 paper.

Kellogg’s Corn Flakes are $1.99, and there was a coupon for $1.50/2 in the 1/18 paper.

French’s Mustard is $1.50, and you can print a .50 off coupon here, which will double at most stores, making it only .50.

Red Baron Pizza is BOGO at $6.69, and there was a $1.00/2 coupon in the 1/11 paper, making them $2.85 each when you buy two.

Freschetta Pizza is $4.50, and there was a $1.00 off coupon in the 1/4 paper. If you wait until Friday, Giant has a pizza deal where the pizza is $5 but you get a free bottle of soda and carton of ice cream along with it.

Arm & Hammer Laundry Detergent 32load bottle is $2.99, and you can print a $1.00 off coupon here (click on Get Coupons on the top left).

There’s a Super Bowl promo running from today through February 3rd: Buy 5, Save $5 instantly at checkout when you purchase Pepsi, Doritos, Lipton, Aquafina, Gatorade, and Quaker Quakes Rice Snacks participating products. Look for the shelf tags to see which sizes/varieties are qualifying items. The ad shows 6pk bottles of Pepsi and Aquafina, Doritos, and Quaker Quakes at $3.00 each before the promo. It also shows 8pks of Gatorade or 24pks of Pepsi or Lipton for $5.50 before promo.

There’s a 72-Hour Sale running Friday, Saturday and Sunday:

  • 12-Packs of Coke, Pepsi or 7-up are 4 for $7.99 with the in-ad coupon. Limit 1 coupon per household. *Update: Go here to sign up and print a $1.00 off 7-up coupon.
  • Hass Avocados are .77 each.
  • Johnsonville Bratwurst Sausage is $2.50. Use the .55 off or $1.00 off coupon from the 1/11 (the value varied by region).
  • 12-pack Heineken or Amstel Liight is $12.99, limit 2.
  • California Pizza Kitchen Frozen Pizza is $3.99.

WFMW: Decorating with Window Clings

We decorate for the holiday around here, so I’m always on the lookout for cheap (or free) ways to do it. I picked up these Valentine window clings at CVS for 75% off after V-day last year, so I probably spent .25/sheet. We do the windows, of course.

This year, we also jazzed up the bathroom mirror. Please ignore the hideously ugly bathroom. That wallpaper-stripping-and-repainting-among-other-improvements project is slated for 2009, so you’ll be seeing more of that in later months.

Last, we applied some of the small hearts around our giant picture frames in the dining room. The kids got a big kick out of this!

Free Bottle of Diet Dr. Pepper

I don’t drink coffee or tea. But when it’s one of those mornings and I just need a little caffeine to get going, I will have a Diet Dr. Pepper. It’s one of those things that must be in the house at all times, like chocolate. Some of you can relate (I hope).

Sign up here to get a coupon for a free 20oz. or 2-liter of Diet Dr. Pepper. You’ll get the coupon in the mail in 4-6 weeks. Thanks to Coupon Cravings for the heads up!

Shoppers’ Triple Coupons

Shoppers is still tripling coupons (up to .99) through Wednesday, January 28th, so you still have time to get over there. I finally made it in over the weekend, and I would have done better but I had two “helpers” pushing my cart for me, so we were all over the place.

Some of my good finds include:

  • Wet Ones Wipes $2.29. With the .75 off coupon from the 11/2 paper, they were just 4 cents each!
  • Wacky Mac Pasta $1.39. FREE after this printable .50 off coupon.
  • Nature’s Own Bread $2.99. I had a printable coupon for .55 off, but I can’t find the source now. Sorry!
  • Roman Meal Bread $3.19. I used the .55 off coupon from the 10/5 paper, making it $1.54.
  • Smithfield Bacon was $3.00. After the .55 coupon, it was $1.35.
  • Betty Crocker Frosting was $1.59. After the .50 coupon from the 12/14 paper, it was just 9 cents. I’m sending these to school for the Valentine’s Day cookie decorating project.
  • Bisquick $2.99. I used the .60 off from the 12/14 paper, making it $1.19.
  • Pepperidge Farm Baked Naturals Crackers $3.00. After the .75 off coupon from the 1/18 paper, they were .75 each.
  • G.U.M. Kids’ Toothbrushes $1.79. They were free after the 12/7 coupon for .75 off.
  • G.U.M. Kids’ Flossers $1.89. They were 24 cents after the 12/7 coupon for .55 off.

There are LOTS of coupon matchups posted in the Comments section of my original post. Go check it out. And thank you to all you Shoppers shoppers for posting your finds there!

Bloggy Giveaways Carnival

Are you new here? Then you probably don’t know about the time waster wonderful obsession called The Bloggy Giveaways Carnival. Seriously, I lose like 2-3 days of my life every time one of these rolls around. Because. I. Must. Enter. If you don’t enter, you can’t win, right? Here’s how it works: go the Mr. Linky over at Skim through the listings and click on the contests that interest you. Enter the ones you’d like to win, and remember that if you’re asked to leave your email in a comment to space it out to avoid spammers, such as name (at) yahoo (dot) com. The various contests run anywhere from 24 hours to a week long, so you’ll want to check that Mr. Linky again to see what new prizes have been added.

Last October, I didn’t win anything, but back in July I won two prizes, so my odds are good this time around, I’m thinking. :)

And what am I giving away this week? I’m going to make you wait until Wednesday because I love the suspense. But I will give you a hint:

It rhymes with “swift bard.”

Meal Planning Monday

It’s cold. Really cold. Every day, I want soup, and bread, and lots of baked goods (we’ve already demolished a batch of oatmeal cookies over the past two days). I think I’m going to put on (more) weight with all this baking…

Sunday–Macaroni & Cheese Casserole and broccoli. Total comfort food.

Monday–Crockpot Turkey & Wild Rice Soup, except I used chicken. I made Baguettes with the bread machine., and they turned out even better than the last time. Mmmm…

TuesdayCrockpot Chicken Cacciatore, spaghetti, broccoli.

Wednesday–Beef & Parm Pasta, except I’m using the ground turkey I got on sale a few weeks back. It was $1.99/lb instead of the $4.49/lb for lean ground beef. I also use healthier-than-white pasta, either Barilla Plus or Whole Wheat. If you use whole wheat, you need to account for the longer cooking time. I’ll serve it with frozen green beans.

Thursday–Homemade pizza using this dough and sauce. We like mushrooms, spinach, and garlic on top.

Friday–Leftovers; there should be one portion or so of each meal left over, so I’ll leave hubby to divvy it up amongst the children (I’m going to a Girls’ Night Out).

Saturday–Cheesy Vegetable Chicken Chowder, more bread from the breadmaker.

BeCentsAble on GMA Tomorrow

I’m excited to watch Good Morning America Tuesday morning to see the ladies from BeCentsAble, a fellow frugal blog where they link to my weekly Safeway posts. I appreciate all of you readers who join us on Wednesdays to get your Safeway fix–remember that the promos are good at Safeway’s partner stores of Carrs, Dominicks, Genuardis, Pavilions, Randalls, Tom Thumb, and Vons.

If you shop at stores other than Safeway and Giant (which I cover because they’re my local stores), check out the Grocery Gathering at BeCentsAble for the weekly deals at all the chains nationwide. It’s also a great resource if you plan to be traveling to a new area; you can find out the sales and deals in your destination city.

**Update: It got bumped! They’re not sure which morning it will be on, but I’ll let you know.
