Since I’m still a novice, it takes me a while to list things on Ebay, but it did pay off to the tune of $137 after Ebay and Paypal fees. One benefit to using Ebay over Craigslist or a yard sale is that you’re able to reach so many more potential buyers than your local area. I tried selling an outdated DVR we’d had in the closet on Craigslist. Several people emailed me about it, but they never made an appt. to pick it up. I listed in on Ebay and had 10 people watching it within the first day, and it ended up selling for more than I’d listed it on Craigslist.
In March, we had an extra $608.81 income for the month due to the following:
- Gift Cards: $65.00 in Amazon cards from Swagbucks.
- Rebates: I got a check for $39.99 in the mail, but I don’t know what it’s from. It looks like a meter rebate, but I think the last time I sent one of those in was last November, so ??? But I’ll take the money, of course.
- Returns: $98.74, but mostly things I bought this month that didn’t fit (I figured out that I’ve been buying clothes a whole size too big for myself).
- Craigslist/Ebay: $166.97, the extra $30 was from two items I sold on Craigslist before starting Ebay
- Blog Income: $105.19 because of a nice ad payout (see, last month was a fluke)
- Reimbursements: I was reimbursed $87.05 for refreshments I’d bought for several months of my multiples club’s meetings. Does anyone owe you money? Get your receipts together and submit them!
- Miscellaneous: We got $45.87 credit back from DirecTV because we bundled our services with Verizon at the end of January, saving us some money monthly on our phone/internet/TV and producing a credit from the last bill we paid.
My plan for April? Our big neighborhood yard sale is the last weekend of the month, so I’m finishing my closet organizing and designating items for that. I usually profit over $300 from my yard sales, so I need to get working on that. My son helps me with the tagging, and I’ll pick up some freebies from CVS over the month to sell in addition to our outgrown toys and whatever else I can scrounge up.

Way to go mom! You are inspiring me to keep up my decluttering to make money mode.
