NOTE: Safeway deals are also applicable to their partner stores: Dominicks, Genuardis, Vons, Pavilions, Tom Thumb, Randalls, and Carrs.
It’s all about the Mix & Match $5 off Promo at Safeway and its partner stores this week. This promo runs through next Tuesday, March 31st and there are many great deals to be had! Here is what you need to know:
- You must buy 10 of the participating items to receive the $5.00 off instantly at checkout.
- Participating products have an orange shelf tag, but sometimes a red sale tag has replaced it, so use the pictures in the weekly ad if you have a problem. If you don’t get the $5 automatically deducted at checkout, head over to the Customer Service desk with a copy of the ad and point out what you purchased. You should get cash back on the spot.
- Slickdeals has this searchable list of participating products. These are the items that should be coded in the computer to prompt the automatic discount.
- There is no limit to how many rewards you can get in a single transaction. If you buy 20 participating items, you should see $10 instant savings; for 40 items, you’d see $20 instant savings. Be sure to check your receipt before you leave the store!
Here are some scenarios to get you started:
6 Deer Park Aquapods $12.00 (used a $1.00/2 coupon from the 2/8 paper)
1 Sliced Mushrooms $2.00
1 Fresh Express Salad $1.25 (used a .75 off coupon which doubled*)
2 Halls Cough Drops $2.50 (used two .75 off printables which doubled*)
The total was $17.75, the automatic $5 and manu coupons took me to $8.00, then I got three $2.00 off your next order Catalina coupons plus another $1.00/2 Deer Park coupon at the end of the transaction. There is a Cat promo running through April 19th that gives you a $2.00 Cat when you buy 2 Deer Park Waters. That’s a net of $2.00 for all those groceries!
*A note on doubling–my store doubles coupons up to .75, and they just changed the computers so that you do NOT receive overage. So my Halls coupons didn’t give me $1.50 off, just the $1.25 sale price of the cough drops. Your store might give you overage!
4 Hunt’s Canned Tomatoes $5.00 (used a $1.00/4 coupon)
2 Halls Cough Drops $2.50 (used two .75 off coupons which doubled)
2 100-Calorie Nabisco Bars $4.00 (used the .75 off coupons from the 2/22 paper which doubled)
2 Deer Park Aquapods $4.00 (used the $1.00/2 Cat from above)
Total was $15.50, then the automatic $5 and manu coupons took it down to $5.50. I got another $1.00/2 coupon and $2.00 off your next purchase Cats for buying the Aquapods.

Crystal Light is also a participating product….on the shelf at my store were coupons for $2 off when you buy Crystal Light and Nabisco 100 Calorie Snack Packs which are also part of the deal!
Keep an eye out for that coupon!
Also, when I purchased 5 of the Crystal Lights and 5 of the Snack Packs~ I got a $2 catalina off my next purchase from Crystal Light!
So~ 5 Crystal Lights at $2 each and 5 Snack Packs at $2 each =$20
Minus $10 for 10 of the $2 off coupons =$10 and then subtract the $5 off the mix & match promo =$5 and a $2 off catalina.
Hey, I sent you an e-mail. Did you get it?
No, I never got an email? Did you use ginava3 (at) yahoo?
Yes! I found more Huggies Wipes coupons and I think I’ll get some more pasta. I don’t have coupon match ups for the Chill Out promo… I couldn’t get your Google Doc to work. I have some time now to poke around, though.
The link for the $1/4 is no longer there
Do the $2 cats from the aquapods roll?
According to the SD folks, they do roll, but I haven’t tried it myself because I haven’t made it back to Safeway. Sick kids!
