You know I’m a big fan of IKEA. It’s a very cheap date for me and the kids. One of their best values is the six-pack of plastic plates or cups for $1.99. I’ve stopped buying paper plates and instead use these plastic ones. They’re easy to wash, and they’re the perfect size for toddler-sized meals or a small snack. The cups are chubby for toddler hands, plus they’re perfect in the bathroom and can get run through the dishwasher to keep sanitary. And, I just love the colors. They hold up well, too, as I know many families who have had them for years.
IKEA stuff works for me! For more Works for me Wednesday tips, head over to We Are That Family.

When we lived in San Diego we loved visiting and shopping at IKEA.
We still have our coffee table, entertainment center and our son’s dresser, that were purchased over 10 years ago.
Love those plates and cups…they’re what we use for our son, too!
Cute blog design!
I don’t have an IKEA, but I also switched to plastic plates and cups.
My daughter was just learning to walk at the time and I dropped a glass. It shattered everywhere and I was so afraid she’d step in glass. I decided the cheap plastic cups and plates would give me peace of mind!
First time at your blog. Nice to “meet you”.
I am a huge fan of Ikea. Now my kids are growing up, my dh is trying to persuade me to clear our cupboard of Ikea cups and plates, but I am not ready to let them go!!!
I like this idea! We are minutes from IKEA, so I need to plan a trip.
Our only “dishes” are my Pfaltzgraff set from our wedding–not suitable for our 2-year-old girl or 9-month-old boy, but it’s what we’ve been using.
I’ll be enjoying these soon! Keep passing along these great tips!
Thanks!
Do you have a direct link to these plates? Or a product # or something? I think they may be great “party wear” to have whenever we have a party. Which means investing in a set for about 40, but it would save a lot in the long run on paper plates. And there is that environment thing too! We don’t live anywhere near an IKEA, so sad

If you don't know anyone who lives near an Ikea to mail you some, check out Ebay:

Amazon has reusable plates, too, but they're not as cheap:

I love IKEA and I love these dishes too. My son adores them and they are super-sturdy!
thanks! To bad they wont mail them
hooray! Thanks for the tip…been looking for some cups like this.
We have the same ones, and the silverware too. My younger son has low muscle tone so the larger grips on the IKEA silverware have been perfect and easier for him to grip
I love IKEA. I love it so much that instead of responding to someone in facebook – I wrote it on my status update “I LOVE IKEA” — I’m just grateful that we finally got one 3 hours away. Before that I had to travel 7 hours one way.
I’m so pleased to hear that you are no longer using paper plates.
We’ve used those same things (along with the forks, spoons, and knives) for years now. You’re right – they hold up great!!!
Does anyone know if these are BPA free? (I don’t know if it makes any difference, but better safe than sorry …)
CFO–it doesn’t say so on the site, but here’s the contact info:

Thanks, Gina!
We have those plates and cups– and the matching bowls, which hold around 3/4 cup– for our 2.5 year-old. Not only are they great for her, but they’re also nice for those of us who are attempting to practice portion control. I use the bowls to portion out my own snacks!
