NOTE: Safeway deals are also applicable to their partner stores: Dominicks, Genuardis, Vons, Pavilions, Tom Thumb, Randalls, and Carrs.
One more note–I base my write-up on the ad I receive in the Mid-Atlantic. Your prices and coupons may differ in your region of the country.
The Buy 5, Save $5 Mix & Match Sale includes the following cereals and snacks and runs through Tuesday, May 19; there are more products eligible in the store, so look carefully at the shelf tags (or check Safeway.com). The prices below are before the automatic $5 is taken off (you should see it on your receipt):
- Kelloggs Corn Flakes $2.00. Use the $1.00 off any Kellogg’s Cereal coupon from the 4/5 paper or print one here to get each box FREE after coupon and promo.
- Kellogg’s Special K Various Flavors, Rice Krispies, larger size Corn Flakes, Frosted Mini Wheats or Start Smart $3.00. Print a $1.00 off coupons for Special K, Rice Krispies or Mini Wheats, or use the $1.00 off any cereal from the 4/5 paper.

Buy 3 HBO, get $2.00 back; buy 4, get $3.00; or buy 5 and get $5.00. If you buy 5 boxes, even without coupons, you’ll pay $10 and get a $5 Cat back, so $1.00/box.

There’s a coupon in this week’s ad for $2.00 off a purchase of 1-lb. or more Primo Taglio Meat or Cheese in the deli department.
Butcher’s Cut Lunch Meat is on sale for $1.99, and there’s a coupon for $1.00 off at Safeway.com. Thanks for the heads up, Jennifer!
Del Monte Fruit Naturals are $1.00 each, and you can print a $1.00 off two coupon.
There’s a Catalina promo running through May 26 on California Pizza Kitchen Frozen Pizzas. Buy three, and get a coupon for a FREE Pizza on your next visit. They’re priced at $4.99 each this week, and there is a printable $1.00 coupon.
There is also a Catalina promo for Kraft Macaroni & Cheese (the regular blue box). You can print a Buy 3, Get 1 Free coupon, then purchase 4 boxes at $1.00 each. You’ll get a $1.00 Catalina back at the end of your transaction, taking it down to .50/box after coupon and Cat. Thanks to Abundant Food Savings for the heads up.
The ice cream promo from last week continues through May 19: Earn a $5 Catalina coupon when you purchase any four (4) of the following. There were $1.00/2 coupons in the 4/26 paper for all of these:

Safeway has posted their IP coupon policy at Safeway.com. Remember that you can print IP coupons there as well.
There are now two e-coupon options: you can load P&G coupons onto your Safeway card, and Randalls and Tom Thumb shoppers can load Shortcuts coupons. Hopefully this means that Safeway and the other partner stores will follow suit.

Thank you for the Kraft Mac & Cheese info!
I have a good friend that just moved to London and she said you can't get pre-packaged mac and cheese there! Now I can afford a little care package!
Gina,
How do you find out about the various Catalina deals? Are they in the sales flyer? Not that I don’t trust you or can’t just come here to find them!
I’m just curious because most of the time they aren’t even marked on the shelves at my (very poorly run) Vons store.
Thank you for posting all the cereal details! I had already printed those coupons but hadn’t had time to check Safeway to see if they were all included, you’ve saved me so much time!
Do you think the “buy 5, save 5″ can be done more than once in a single transaction (like the last time they had it)?
At my Safeway, Butcher’s Cut deli meat packages (16 oz) are on sale for 1.99 from the usual 3.49. There’s an IP on the Safeway site for $1/1, so you can score the deli meat for .99 cents. Only one coupon per customer, per transaction though.
Kate–I used to send Kraft Mac & Cheese to friends in England, too!
Bridget–that has always been the case before, you can buy 10 items and see the discount come off twice. Just be sure and check your receipt before you leave the store.
Maygan–you're welcome!
Camille–it is SO hard to find the Cat deals. I get them from the Slickdeals Safeway thread and from signs in the store. I wrote more here:

Jennifer–thanks! I added it to the post.

Jennifer–thanks! I added it to the post.
My takeaway from this is that I HAVE to buy a LOT of ice cream. You know, to save money. It’s a tough job but I’m just the woman to do it.
Gina,
For the California Pizza Kitchen catalina: do the self-rise pizzas qualify for this catalina deal? I was wondering because I printed off two “$2.00 off any one New California Pizza Kitchen 12″ Rising Crust Pizza” from coupons.com a few weeks ago. This printable coupon expires 7/30/09.
Thanks! Love your blog!
Laura
Sorry, Laura, I don’t know! And I checked the Slickdeals thread and don’t see that anyone has tried it there either. You may have to be the guinea pig!
Yes… I believe they do. I bought 3 of the smaller pizzas (12oz I believe (serves 3)… not the individual pizzas) on Saturday (for $4.99 ea) and got the free pizza coupon (I used 2 of the $2 IPCs and 1 of the $1 IPCs to purchase). Unfortunately, my freezer is so full that I don’t have room for the regular sized pizzas!!
One more thing… I’m not sure why, but I also did the ice cream deal and my $5 Cat did NOT print. I bought 2 10pks of the new little drumsticks for $4.99ea (and used 2 of the $1/1 coupons found in magazines) and 2 6pks of Slim-A-Bear Eskimo Pies (and used the insert $1/2 coupon).
I went to customer service and she said to check the sign. I pointed out that my purchase met all of the very general requirements outlined on the sign deal (signs were on the freezers). She then said I had to buy the ones with the marked price tags. I laughed and pointed out that NONE of the price tags were marked for the deal…
She gave me $5 cash.
I’m assuming this has been discussed on SD (I don’t have time to check that thread)… but I haven’t seen you mention it here…
Today at Safeway I got a long Cat called “Safeway Just for U” that contained 5 Safeway store coupons:
-$2 off WYS $10 on Laundry Det/Fabric Softners in one trans
-$1.50 off WYS $5 on cleaners in one trans
-$1.50 off WYS $5 on disposable tableware in one transaction
-$10 off WYS $80 or more in one trans
-$1 off WYB any 1 Suave personal care (Excludes 15 shampoo/cond)
All expire 8/4/09
I’m excited becuase I think there could be some good possibilites with MQs and other Safeway deals…
Lynn–I think what you got were some new coupons. I received an email saying “Coupons just for you” but there was nothing to print, so this may be how your Club Card gets “exclusive” coupons.
