NOTE: Safeway deals are also applicable to their partner stores: Dominicks, Genuardis, Vons, Pavilions, Tom Thumb, Randalls, and Carrs.
One more note–I base my write-up on the ad I receive in the Mid-Atlantic. Your prices and coupons may differ in your region of the country.
Big news–Safeway has finally put their internet-printable coupon policy in writing. Of course, my issue is with the first point, “We can only accept Printable Coupons if they scan properly at the register.” Do you know how many times the cashier won’t even TRY to scan the coupon? I always have to take it over to Customer Service to get my money. Frustrating. I guess I’ll try printing this out and bringing it to the store with me. Thanks to Abundant Food Savings for the link.
How many of you are glad that the Living Well, Feeling Great promo is over? Me, too! It’s always exhausting when those big promos happen a few times a year. I think I made about 10 trips, and I’m thoroughly stocked up on Electrasol and bottled water, but I didn’t really go crazy with anything else. Onto this week’s deals:
Duncan Hines Cake and Brownie Mixes are Buy 2, Get 3 Free. If you still have them, there was a coupon for $1.00/2 Brownie Mix coupon in the 2/1 paper.
Betty Crocker Muffin Mix is $2.00, and there was a .40 off coupon in the 4/5 paper, which will double at some stores.
Fresh Strawberries 1-lb. are FREE with the printable coupon at Safeway.com (look on page 2 or 3).
Kraft Mayo is $2.50, and there was a $1.00 off coupon in the 4/26 paper.
Kraft BBQ Sauce is $1.33, and there was a $1.00/2 coupon in the 5/3 paper. Plus, there’s a Catalina promo where you get a $2.00 Cat when you buy 4, $2.50 Cat when you buy 5, or $3.00 Cat when you buy 6. If you buy 4 BBQ Sauce and use two coupons, you’ll pay only $1.32 after Cat.
The Pillsbury Catalina deal continues through 5/17. Buy 3 of the 4-count Crescent Rolls for $1.50 each and get a $3.00 Cat back. Use the $1.00/3 coupon from the 4/26 paper to get all three for just .50.
The Buy 5, Save $5 Mix & Match Juice Promo is back, running through Tuesday, 5/12. Participating brands include Capri Sun and Mott’s ($2.49 before promo), Ocean Spray and V-8 ($2.99 before promo), and V-8 Fusion and Langers ($3.49 before promo), as well as Crystal Light, Propel and Gatorade Powdered Drink Mixes. There aren’t a lot of coupon matchups, but there was a $1.00 off V-8 Fusion coupon in the 4/19 paper or you can print one here.
Earn a $5 Catalina coupon when you use your Club Card from 5/6 to 5/19 and purchase any four (4) of the following. There were $1.00/2 coupons in the 4/26 for all of these:
- Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream 14oz. or bars 3-pk. or larger
- Edy’s Branded Products 1.5 qt. (called Dreyer’s in other parts of the country)
- Edy’s Fruit Bars 6-pk. or larger
- Edy’s Dibs Frozen Snacks 60-ct. or 10-ct.
- Nestle Drumstick Frozen Dairy Dessert Cones 4-pk. or larger
- Eskimo Pie Frozen Dairy Dessert Bars 6-pk. or larger
- Skinny Cow Frozen Treats 4-pk. or larger
There are some SuperCoupons inside the ad, all with a minimum $20 purchase (remember that the regular price of these items counts towards the $20):
- Lucerne Eggs 18ct for $1.99
- Chinet Plates or Cups $2.50. There was a $1.00 off coupon in the 5/3 paper.
- Cascade Auto Dish Detergent $3.99
- Listerine Mouthwash $2.99. There was a $1.00 off coupon in the 4/26 paper.
- Kleenex Facial Tissue $1.00
- Safeway Disinfecting Wipes $1.79
- Safeway SELECT Batteries $3.99
Remember you can load e-coupons for P&G products onto your Safeway Club Card. And, Randalls and Tom Thumb customers can now use Cellfire e-coupons.
The pharmacy is offering a coupon for 10% off your next grocery purchase when you fill an new or transferred prescription for allergy medications (Allegra, Clarinex, Flonase, Singulair, etc.). This runs through May 31.

Nice catch on the BBQ sauce– I got .75/1 in CA so it works out to .32 for 4 after catalina! I linked to you this am.
What part of the ad is your Kraft BBQ sauce in? I don’t see that in my ad so maybe it’s regional!
The BBQ deal wasn’t in the ad, but I saw the Catalina info in the Slickdeals thread, so I looked up the price online at Safeway.com.
Also Sara Lee Promo! b5g$5 cat back. I doubled dipped this w/LW & I now have all my hot dogs for the summer….glad this week at Safeway is slow.
Great Blog
When I had checked the price on Tuesday, the price of bbq was $1.79. So maybe price is regional… I’m in MD.
I still had the $2 coupon for V8 V-fusion. So that made the deal that much sweeter!
Now that the LW promo is over… I’m sitting on $46 worth of cat coupons… and I’m not sure if there will be any great deals at SW within the next 2 weeks to spend them on. Do you know if you can include a gift card in your purchase at SW and partially pay with cat coupons?
For example, could I buy a $50 gift card and $6 worth of groceries and pay with my $46 in cat coupons and $10 cash???
In my area the cashier always has to put her thumb over part of the bar code at the bottom because their scanners are out of date. I don’t have a problem with them.
Starting a new blog on freebeis and coupons to be up soon at netabuck.net
Thanks
Lynn–many of the Slickdeals people have been able to buy gift cards, but not all stores/managers will let it go through. It’s worth a shot! If I were you, I would definitely NOT just buy $50 worth of stuff. I would spend $25 of them on $50 worth of stuff; I think it will go through smoother and not alert the cashier that it might not be kosher.
In addition to the FREE coupon for the strawberries, they are also BOGO right now. Use the Q to get two packages of strawberries for FREE.
Also, with the Buy 4, Get $5 ice cream deal, there are two extra Cats printing – check out my page for the details. It’s the post titled “Run, don’t walk”
Thanks, I used this info and saved 69% today.
Just a reminder you cannot use all your cats from LW in the same transaction. One per transaction.
Thanks for the info/advice Gina.
Looks like the Kraft BBQ sauce could be a MM… with all the $1/1 printables out now and this past wknds SS insert….
My BBQ coupons were only $1.00/2, so still really cheap, but not free or a moneymaker.
Thanks, Shell! I got two packs of strawberries for FREE this morning.
Gina – I believe you can print from 2 – 4 sites (2 prints/site)right now Kraft IPCs… including a $1/1 Kraft BBQ sauce.
Here are some sites listed on SD:

Also, thanks anon. poster about only being able to use 1 LW cat/purch. I hadn’t considered that. Better start planning a SW run!!
