Bringing Money In: June

Not a lot happening this month. I have been relying on “passive” income from the blog (thought I’d hardly call it passive, I’m researching and writing my butt off over here!) and less on actively selling and bringing in money. I still have a few things leftover from the big Craigslist/Yard Sale push of April. I have been wanting to sell those items but never seem to find the time. I was right when I predicted last month that I wouldn’t have as much time to bring in income during the summer transition.

Here’s where my extra stay-at-home-mom income came from in June:

  • Swagbucks: This gets its own category because it is truly impacting my budget for the better. I owe you all a post on how “Swagbucks can change your life,” and I really believe that. I redeemed $135 in Amazon GC through Swagbucks to buy household items this month (I’ll get you that post soon!).
  • Gift Cards: I earned $9.00 of free gas in a Safeway promotion, but I haven’t done much in the way of deals or fancy schemes this month. I also used two pharmacy coupons at CVS to get $20 in gift cards.
  • Blog Income: In between pool time and looong indoor days with the kids, I want to work on increasing my blog income. I can’t increase the amount of time I’m spending on writing and maintaining the blog, especially with us on summer schedule, so I need to get myself more organized and use my time wisely. I’d like to be ready to hit the fall schedule (where the girls will be in preschool a couple of days a week) with an organized plan for the blog and how to work it. In June, I received $239.80 in payments from earnings April-May.

$403.80 is nothing to sneeze at, and I suppose it’s better that I use my time building the blog than redeeming small rebates here and there. But when I look back at months like March, it reminds me that if you want to make some quick income, you can sell items on Ebay or Craigslist. Since I also want to clear that clutter out of my basement, I’m feeling the itch. Maybe I could do an impromptu yard sale…

If you’re looking to make some income as a stay-at-home mom, read Surveys 101. That’s what I would do with my time if I wasn’t blogging.
