Home Decor from Yard Sale Finds

I broke my own rule and went shopping without a list. I just couldn’t find it, but since I’m working on so many house projects right now, I had house-decorating on the mind and didn’t spend money picking up more than I needed. I didn’t spend much at all, in fact, just $4.00 for all of the above! The only kids’ item I picked up was this alphabet bingo game, which I’ve already played a bunch of times with my 3-year-old girls. It’s great practice for them learning to identify their letters. I found a great lamp base, it’s a dark bronze with a great design. Then at the next sale I found this perfectly new shade. It might be too big, I haven’t tried it yet. The white platter was .25 and was already used for pancakes this morning.

I was very excited to find the glass vase, it’s such a pretty shape and just perfect for a pretty tablescape on my newly-painted dining room buffet. At the moment, it’s filled with shells and safely in the guest room. I just don’t see how it would survive three small kids in the busiest room in the house.

The rectangular basket is also in the guest room, holding magazines, but it’s so versatile it might end up holding rolled-up towels or any number of other things. I really like the candlestick, though I don’t know what to do with it. Any ideas?

    You found some good things.
The candle holder would also make a great lamp. Lamp kits are available at hardware and lighting stores. I have converted several…not hard at all.

You did pretty good without that darn list, I'd say. The lamp bases will paint up nicely and even if the shade doesn't work out, you're still way ahead when you go out to buy new ones.

Only $4 for all of that??? WOW! I second the idea about using the candlestick as a lamp–easy to do with a kit. Have fun and come visit "me" sometime!
