Last week, I mentioned how I still have a pile of leftover yard sale items sitting around and I wasn’t very happy with the amount I brought in for June. Instead of procrastinating (again), I decided to just do it. I took photos of and listed all those items on Craigslist. By Sunday night, I had gotten rid of quite a bit, and I made $155! There are a few things left over, so those will probably end up being Freecycled just to de-clutter. More money, more space–it’s all good!
What do you have lying around the house that could bring in some extra cash?

I have never got anything or put anything on Craig's list but my sil got a brand new hot tub for free. Never been used and looked it.
All they had to do was cart it away. Guess the guy didn't want to bother with selling it.
Hi Mindy.. how did you get stuff to sell on Craigs list? I have tried that and people never show or it falls through or other things.. it is annoying.. any ideas? thanks.. Christine

I love Craigslist. Just this past weekend, I listed a mirror that I had in the closet for 2 1/2 yrs, and someone came over within 2 hrs of me posting it and bought that and a coffee table I hadn't even posted. I made $85! I also sold my BMW on it to the 1st person that called and I've sold clothing too!
You know, I've thought about doing the craigslist thing because I have a TON of Gymboree clothes to get rid of. But I'm scared I'll meet crazy people ;( A little nervous about it be honest.
Momstheword–new hot tub? Cool!
Yes, that happens sometimes with Craigslist–no shows and such. I do find that when I'm selling children's items (furniture, equipment, toys, etc.) that it happens less frequently. It's one of the downsides, but most times the people show up and it's no problem.
Anon–I'm Gina, but I'll answer anyway.
MommaCeleste–great job!
Krusty–If you have Gymboree clothes to sell and they're in excellent condition, I would use Ebay instead. You can mail them using the free boxes from the post office, and then you don't have to meet people face-to-face. I've never had luck selling clothes on Craigslist.
If you are afraid of meeting people at your house and what you are selling is portable, you can always make arrangements to meet them in a nearby public place.
I have a friend who uses the local Cracker Barrel parking lot. Honestly, I don't know how much money she's made, because she always seems to end up going for lunch afterwards, LOL.
