Last week, my Works for Me Wednesday tip was Making Money from Craigslist, where I made good money ($155!) selling items that were cluttering up the house. Of course, the opposite works as well, though it uses some of that previously-earned money. This week, I saved money by buying items used off of Craigslist:
First, we needed to get our 3-year-old-long-legged twins out of their baby highchairs. They looked ridiculous, but we liked having them down at one end of the table and not taking up two adult chairs. I found these bar chairs (don’t look at the seats, they’re gross and need to be recovered) for just $30 on Craigslist. I’ve already bought $4 worth of fabric to cover the seats. It’s on my to-do list for the weekend.
Next was a toy bin storage set that was desperately needed in my girls’ room. This runs $60 at Target, I’ve seen it for $40 on sale, but I only paid $20 for this one on Craigslist. It’s in excellent condition, and you can see it was absorbed by toys within minutes of arriving in our house. This will last us a long time, and then I can re-sell it and get back some of my $20 cost.

I love Craigslist! You can find almost anything you need if you are patient.
My best Craigslist find: We were looking for a new dining set forever and they were expensive. Found a gorgeous dining table with 6 chairs and a china hutch for $500! We were the first people to call, so we got the deal. They could have easily sold it for twice that, but they were in a hurry to move. If you're really serious about looking for something, it's worth the time to search Craigslist!
I'm looking to purchase a backyard climber for my boys. Those things never break and there are lots to choose from on CL.
I love CL too! I get sooo much stuff from there. Most of the big toys in our house…jumperoo, kitchen, superyard XT, snap and go stroller, slide, etc. LOVE IT! I am looking for double strollers now but dont have as much time to stalk CL like I use to when Ellie was an infant.
I have sold some kids items along with an adult 4 wheeler, cars and trailer on cl. I have picked up a few kids clothes and shoes for my daughter. Under the free section you can find alot of stuff too. Some people just want to get rid of things. I always search there first.
Last week, I purchased the same toy storage unit on Craigs List. I also paid $20.00 and it was in excellent condition. This week, I purchased a Krups Juicer for just $10.00. It was also in excellent condition. You can read my post about the juicer here: http://wvsrockwell.blogspot.com/2009/07/making-homemade-juice.html
Lets see- I bought our queen cherry sleigh bed on CL for $20, I bought our sons convertible cherry sleigh crib on CL for $100, we bought my husbands commuter car off of CL, we bought our couches off of cl, and just got a free microfiber couch off of CL last night! I actually made it a business when my daughter was born 3 years ago, I bought and sold and made grocery money doing it!
My dad (not the most computer savy person) mentioned Craig's list one weekend he was visiting and before he left we were the proud new owner of a lateral file cabinet that we had looked in stores for ages for and not had any luck and a new dresser. Then started the addiction. We have purchased a few things for around the house but when I got pregnant, I started selling everything. I have already made over $1,000 with stuff that I didn't need or want anything. I still have a bunch of stuff to sell and whatever doesn't go on Craig's list is going to go into a garage sale in the coming weeks. The only way my husband would let me get rid of some of his stuff was to make money.
I just now saw this! Thanks for linking back to me! You know I love craigslist
