Snack Sales at Safeway & Partner Stores

Starting Wednesday, August 12th, Safeway and its partner stores (Dominicks, Genuardi’s, Vons, Pavilions, Tom Thumb, Randalls, and Carrs) have sale prices & promos for stocking up on lunchbox treats and afterschool snacks. By combining regular coupons with e-coupons, you can get very low prices:

Nature Valley Granola Bars are 4 for $6.00 with in-ad SuperCoupon. Use any of the following coupons for extra savings:

Plus, there’s a Catalina promo running 8/14 through 9/6 where you get a Cat coupon at checkout: Buy 3, get $1.50 OYNO; buy 4, get $2.50 OYNO; and buy 5, get $3.50 OYNO. With four .40 off printable coupons and the SuperCoupon, you’ll pay $4.40 and get a $2.50 Cat back, for a net price of $1.90 for 4 boxes, or .48/box.

Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks are 4 for $4.00 with in-ad SuperCoupon. Applicable coupons:

You can maximize the e-coupons by purchasing 2 Fruit Shapes and 2 of any other (Fruit by the Foot, Gushers, etc.). With two of each variety, plus the printable coupons, SuperCoupon and all three e-coupons, you’ll pay $1.05 total for a net price of .27/box. [I will test out my math on Wednesday and report back.]

Chex Mix is on sale for $2.00. Use any of these coupons:

  • .50 off 2 from 8/9 insert (this will double at some stores)
  • .50 off certain varieties at Smartsource
  • .50 off from Coupons.com
  • .50 e-coupon at Cellfire

Yoplait Go-Gurt is $2.49. Applicable coupons:

  • .35 off from the 8/9 insert (this will double at some stores)
  • .75/2 from the 8/9 insert (this will double at some stores)
  • .40 off at Coupons.com
  • .80/2 at Coupons.com
  • .35 from the 7/12 insert (this will double at some stores)
  • .75/2 from the 7/12 insert (this will double at some stores)
  • .40 off at Betty Crocker
  • .80/2 at Betty Crocker
  • .80/2 e-coupon at Shortcuts
  • .80/2 e-coupon at Cellfire

Buy two packs so you can utilize the two e-coupons; they will both come off on your receipt. My store will double the .75/2 insert coupon, so after both e-coupons I would pay $1.88 for two packs.

Thanks so much for the head's up and the list of coupons. Nature Valley Granola bars are my son's favorites and with this deal they're cheaper than I can make them. I've printed a ton of coupons today. Thanks.

  2. UnfinishedMom says:

Just an FYI, I had to go to the Betty Crocker site directly, in order to print the coupons. For some reason the link didn't work.

  3. StaceyV says:

Be sure to read Safeways NEW coupon coupon policy. I'm pretty sure you can't use other coupons with an in-ad coupon now. And they only double the first like coupon in a transaction.

  4. Gina says:

Stacey–At my regular Safeway, all the coupons double, and when I've brought it to the attention of the manager, he says he doesn't want the cashiers to manually enter all the coupons, so just to go by the computer. I checked with another manager at another Safeway, and he said the same thing. I don't know why they don't have the computers programmed to follow their written policy, but they don't. The manager says it's fine, so I'm doing what he suggests because it's his store.

If you have questions about the coupon policy at your local store, talk to your manager.

I tried to do this deal this morning and did get an awesome deal of granola bars-4 boxes for 90 cents total! It did not print a catalina. I wonder why?

  7. Gina says:

I didn't get a Cat either, so I called the Catalina company and left a message. Someone should call me back soon. I'll let you know!

  8. Gina says:

Aha–the Cat deal for NV Granola Bars doesn't start until 8/14. Duh. Seems like I should look at a calendar more often. Sorry about that!

  9. Anonymous says:

So I just tried this – got 4 NV Granolas, 4 Betty Crocker snacks, 2 Chex Mixs, 1 Organic Raisins pack (not included in deal)

it came up to around $21 (i assume because of the ecoupons), used the super coupons, used $.40/1 coupons for the granolas and snacks (which all doubled) and $.50/1 coupons for the chex with doubled as well…

Total OOP was $5.08 and got $5 in Cat (2 Cats for $2.50 off my next purchase)

    Awesome! Thanks for sharing!!!

Total OOP under $5.00, Got back $7.50 in Cats (used one on second transaction)! Whoot. Whoot. Will post details later today.
