Safeway this week 9/30

NOTE: Safeway deals are also applicable to their partner stores: Dominicks, Genuardis, Vons, Pavilions, Tom Thumb, Randalls, and Carrs. However, I base my write-up on the ad I receive in the Mid-Atlantic. Your prices and coupons may differ in your region of the country.

Safeway Whole Chicken is .79/lb. To learn how to use your slow cooker to cook stock and plenty of chicken for meals, read $5 Dinner’s How to Cook a Whole Chicken.

Shady Brook Farms Ground Turkey is BOGO at $4.49. Since each package is 1.3 lbs, you end up paying $1.73/lb for ground turkey. I stock up and keep it in the freezer so I can mix it with ground beef for meatballs and meatloaf.

Kellogg’s Raisin Bran or Froot Loops are $1.49 when you buy 5. There is a printable $1.50/2 coupon, so if you buy five boxes and use two coupons, you’ll end up at .89/box.

Yoplait Yogurt is .50/cup when you buy 10 or more. There was a .40/6 coupon in the 9/12 paper, you can print a $1.00/8, and there is a .50/6 e-coupon at Shortcuts.

Pillsbury Cake or Brownie Mix is Buy 2, Get 3 Free priced at $1.79 each.

Safeway SELECT Artisan Filone Bread is .99, and you can print a $1.00 off coupon at Safeway.com.

The 72-Hour Sale runs Friday through Sunday and includes these sale prices:

  • 12pack Pepsi Fridge Mates $2.49 each when you buy 3 or more.
  • Kraft Singles $1.49, limit 2.

There is a money-making Catalina promo running on Joint Juice, if you can find it in your store. See the details at Abundant Food Savings.

If you get your Flu Shot at Safeway, you’ll receive a coupon for 10% off your next order. That can be a big savings if you save the coupon for a stock-up trip or during the time of a big promotion. Stay healthy!

Add E-coupons to your Safeway card three different ways at Shortcuts, Cellfire, and P&G eSaver. You can also print paper coupons at Safeway.com. I have used manufacturer’s coupons on products and still seen the e-coupon savings appear on the receipt.

For coupon matchups at stores nationwide, check out BeCentsAble’s Grocery Gathering. For the other Mid-Atlantic chains like Wegmans and Harris Teeter, head over to Frugal in Virginia.

Where Am I?

Sorry to leave you hanging for a few days, but my brilliant plan for a self-imposed-blogathon-while-I-wait-at-the-hospital (hubby is having his gall bladder surgery today) has been thrown off the lack of a steady wi-fi signal at the hospital and a lack of mental capacity on my part. Sigh.

Yes, I will write a recap of my fabulous experience at the Type A Mom Conference. In a nutshell, I went in with a couple of goals, which were met and also thrown out once I heard/learned some other things. So now my head is all over the place.

Yes, I have gifties for you from said conference, but I also want you to go enter the giveaway for an 18×24 poster print if you haven’t already. Think holidays, people, it’s an easy gift!

Boston Market–Kids Eat FREE

It doesn’t happen often, but sometimes restaurants do a great deal for those of us with families where kids outnumber the adults. Boston Market is offering a Two Kids Eat FREE program. Two children, 14 years and younger, can receive a FREE Kids Meal with only one adult purchase of $6.00 or more. This offer is good all day, every day, through October 31, 2009. No coupon is required, but the kids must be present in order to receive the FREE meals. See Boston Market’s website for details.

Thanks to Frugal RI Mama for the info.

Wish You Were Here

Good Morning from beautiful Asheville, North Carolina! It was a long drive, and I got some very odd looks from people, since I was having a one-woman party in my car, singing at the top of my lungs. I did get a little confused when I saw this sign, but apparently I was going the right way, because I made it.
And I had been nervous about coming, seeing as this is my first work-related (albeit fun) activity in more than six years. But I’m doing fine. People are very friendly, very welcoming, and it’s been great getting to meet bloggers face-to-face that I’d only met on Twitter or email before.

I’m rooming with Dana from Frugal in Virginia, and we knew we had a lot in common, but oh my we were up till 2:00am chatting about blogs, kids, being here, etc. Ridiculous.

On tap for today–lots of sessions on blogging and more networking. There are companies here learning how they can get involved with bloggers to promote their products, and they give away things–I have some GREAT gifties to share with you when I get back–hee hee!

DIY Day: Moving to Tuesday

Kimba, who hosts DIY Day over at A Soft Place to Land, is moving DIY Days to Tuesdays. I have a lofty goal of making some projects to decorate for fall to replace our usual decor of plastic, kid-safe junky-looking stuff (and the kids are thrilled to be decorating their rooms with it).

So look for the first post Tuesday. Right now I’m somewhere enroute from Northern VA to lovely Asheville, NC, hopefully not caught in a thunderstorm. And thank you for all your great music suggestions from Monday’s comments. I thought it was funny that I already had a lot of those artists on my playlist–we have so much in common. :)

Happy Thursday!

FREE Kids Clinic at Lowe’s

This Saturday, September 26 from 10:00-11:00am, kids can make a this fire truck at Lowe’s Build & Grow Clinics. Check with your local store for participation and be sure to register ahead of time.

My son has really enjoyed going to these clinics. Not only do they get to do the project, but they also receive a free apron, pair of goggles, project-themed patch, and a merit certificate for each project. He proudly displays his certificates in his room and uses the apron and goggles to work on more projects around the house.
