I haven’t done a DIY Day in a while, though I have several projects half-done around the house! Does cutting holes in the wall to track down a leaky pipe count as a DIY project?
I didn’t think so…
You know how all these FREE greeting card, postcard, 4×8 photo card deals keep flying around from all the different companies? Are you ready with a holiday photo of the kids? Me, neither. Here’s a simple idea you can do:
Materials Needed:
Banner paper or tape some regular sheets together
Crayons or markers
Cute kids
1. Use a marker to outline words on your large paper: Thank You, Happy Birthday, Happy Holidays, etc.
2. Have your kids color in the letters.
3. Take lots of pictures while they’re working, but especially when they’re done. I took 20 to get the 1 good one. Also–I made the kids work in front of a large window so there would be lots of natural light in my photo.
4. Set up an account with SeeHere. Upload your photo to make a 4×8 Photo Card, then put 50 in your cart. Use code newbaby, and you’ll get 50 cards FREE and pay just $3.19 for shipping. If you want another 50 cards (or want to do another card with a different photo), log back in and put another 50 in your cart, then use this coupon code from Freebies4Mom. Again, you’ll get 50 FREE cards for just the $3.19 shipping cost.
These codes are good through Monday, November 30th. If you miss these or don’t want 4×8 photo cards, wait until the next deal comes up (I’ll keep you posted here at MoneywiseMoms).
See how easy this was? I now have 100 Thank You cards, and while 100 may sound like a lot to you, I figure that with holiday thank yous, birthday thank yous, and various other thank yous throughout the year, I can easily use them up in 2010. Plus, it will encourage me to thank people for little things–bringing a smile to their face and mine. And–as a holiday gift idea–I’m going to bundle up 10 with a ribbon and put them in my mom’s stocking. She’ll love using them as her own cards too.

Genius!! I hate passing these deals up for lack of a good photo. I love your DIY posts so keep 'em coming when you can.
Love this. I have got to be organized enough to get these done. Just having them for holiday thank you's will be so great…let alone having extras for the year!
That's what was so great about this, Deborah, it took all of 15 minutes. Uploading and ordering took longer, so wait till the kids are in bed for that.
Great idea!
I have done this and printed them on my own home computer (which is not all that hot) but never thought to use it for one of these deals. Clever!
This is a WONDERFUL idea. You are going to make me look so clever. Thanks for sharing!
