This week’s Works for me Wednesday is all about the Best Gift Tips. Head over to We Are That Family to check out all the great ideas!
The tip I’d like to share is that Creativity and Care Trumps Price. I mean that with a little crafty effort and by thinking of the person you’re giving to, you can create perceived value and ignore actual dollar value. You do NOT have to be super-crafty to personalize or fancy up a plain gift. Anyone can do this! Here are a few examples:
1) This Decorated Hand Sanitizer cost a whole dollar, and it makes a great gift for office staff, teachers, or anyone who works with kids. It says, “I care about you and you deserve something pretty, plus I hope you don’t get the flu.”
2) This Travel Kit is filled with free samples and coupon freebies; the packaging cost me less than $2.00. I made a similar gift for my sister and brother-in-law last year, but I stuffed stockings instead of baskets. They are big travelers and appreciated having tiny-sized toiletries that were safe for airline travel without having to spend money or go shopping before their next trip.
3) Every kid would love a Personalized T-Shirt. For just $2.00-5.00, you can choose any color tee and a special iron-on applique and make something that’s one of a kind. I’ve seen appliques at Walmart, Joann Fabrics, and Michael’s with a different selection at each store. It doesn’t have to be a t-shirt; what about personalizing a tote bag to make a special library bag?

Great ideas! I am not crafty, but the gift basket looks like something I can do!
