Safeway this week 1/20–Free Annie’s Mac & a Moneymaker

NOTE: Safeway deals are also applicable to their partner stores: Dominicks, Genuardis, Vons, Pavilions, Tom Thumb, Randalls, and Carrs.

I base my write-up on the Washington DC area weekly ad.

Yes, I am pulling myself away from my second home the other grocery store, Giant, long enough to look at today’s Safeway ad. Good stuff! Or I might have skipped it…

Annie’s Organic Mac & Cheese is $1.00, and there’s a printable .50 off coupon, which will double and make it FREE. A note–this coupon prints in the middle of the page and wastes a whole piece of paper. Annoying.

Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks/Shapes/By the Foot/Etc. are part of the Buy 3, Save $3 Mix & Match Sale. You can get them FREE by using your insert coupons or this printable .40 off Fruit Shapes or .50 off two Other Types because there’s a Catalina promo running where you get $1.50 back when you buy 3; $2.50 back when you buy 4; and $3.50 back when you buy 5 or more. This can be a BIG Moneymaker depending on your coupons and doubling. Even if you only buy three and use those two printable coupons, you get .30 back.

Quaker Instant Oatmeal is also part of the Buy 3, Save $3 Sale. It’s $1.50/box when purchased as part of a 3-set, and there’s a printable $1.00 off coupon. .50/box is a great price!

Lever Bar Soap is .88 (the weekly ad has a photo of a 4-pack, but Safeway.com only has the 2-pack for that price). There’s a printable coupon for $1.00 off a 4-pack. FREE if the 4-pack is actually on sale (or you want to argue with CS about the pic in the ad).

Here are more of the participating products for the Buy 3, Save $3 Mix & Match Sale. Check the shelf tags to be sure which varieties/sizes are participating. There are a lot more than are shown in the ad:

  • Fiber One Chewy Bars are $2.00 with the promo, and there was a .40 off coupon in the 1/3 insert that will double, or you can print this .40 off coupon.
  • Honey Nut Cheerios, Golden Grahams, Apple Cinnamon Cheerios and Cinnamon Toast Crunch are $1.50 with the promo. You can print a $1.00 off one and $1.00/2 coupon for Honey Nut Cheerios.
  • Multigrain Cheerios, Wheaties, Pebbles, Kix and Honey Bunches of Oats Cereal are $2.00 with the promo.
  • Life and Cap’n Crunch Cereal are $1.00 with the promo.

2-liter Soda (Coke, Dr. Pepper, etc.) is on sale for $1.25 when you buy 4, and the Dr. Pepper may have peelie coupons on them for .55 off, which double to make them only .15 each. Thanks for to Liz for the email about that.

Betty Crocker Boxed Potatoes are .99. There was a .35 off coupon in the 1/13 paper, which will double, making it .29.

Old El Paso Refried Beans are .99/can, and there was a .55/2 coupon in the 1/3 insert. This will double, making it two cans for .88.

Freschetta Frozen Pizza is $4.99, and there was a $1.00 off coupon way back in the 11/15 insert. I like to have one on hand for a weekend lunch; it keeps us from eating out, saving us a lot of money as a family of five.

Fresh Express Bagged Salad or Spinach is .99 each.

Santa Sweets Grape Tomatoes are .99/pint. I use these to jazz up my son’s lunch as his “fruit” since we’re down to winter oranges and apples at this point in the season (bor-ing).

Rancher’s Reserve Boneless Beef Bottom Round Roast is $1.99/lb in the Extreme Value Pack. This is the cut of meat I use to make Sun-Dried Tomato & Feta Roast in the crockpot, which is a delicious company-worthy recipe if you happen to need one.

Hershey Single Bars are Buy 3, Get 3 Free. Use the BOGO coupon from the 1/10 insert for Special Dark or Hershey’s Milk to get even more FREE. And then mail them to me. Mmmm…chocolate.

Saturday and Sunday Only:

  • Pepperidge Farm Goldfish are .88/bag. My 3-year-olds like to pick their own flavor as a treat (my son doesn’t fall for that, he begs for candy).
  • 2-Liter 7-up, Canada Dry and A&W is .77/bottle
  • Breyers and Klondike Ice Cream is $1.99.
  • Safeway Select or O Organics Pizza is $2.99, limit 2.

Don’t forget to sign up for the Just 4 U printable coupons for FREE eggs, pasta, sauce, etc. good through March 2010.

Add E-coupons to your Safeway card four different ways at Shortcuts, Softcoin, Cellfire, and P&G eSaver. You can also print paper coupons at Safeway.com. I have used manufacturer’s coupons on products and still seen the e-coupon savings appear on the receipt.
