Settling into Summer Routine

Now that we’re into summer schedule full-swing, I’m finally getting the hang of it! Swim team has really taken over our lives, and as the veteran swim moms pointed out, it sets the schedule. They weren’t kidding! 6 of 7 days of the week revolve around practices and/or meets. The girls kept getting confused about which days they swim (their lessons are only 3 days/week), so I made a big chart. This is also helping me stay on top of errands, which the kids don’t want to do but need to be done, and house chores. I also scheduled art time and an outing once a week, to make sure we take the time out of our busy weeks to do fun things too. I’m also preserving my Tuesday Home Morning, which I’ve had all through the school year. It keeps us from running around too much and makes sure the house stays under control.

Speaking of which, the days of wet towels, swimsuits, and flip flops strewn about are over. It took almost two weeks, but the kids learned a new routine for how we come in the house after the pool:

A) Towels and coverups get hung on the hooks
B) Pool toys, sunscreen, etc. are in the big mesh bag (I found it at Walmart)
C) Flip flops go in a basket that I forgot to include int he photo (sorry!). It’s down there on the floor.

This keeps our entryway clear, and they head right up the stairs to hang their wet suits in the bathroom and hop in the shower for a rinse-off. So far, so good!
