This week, I’m sharing ways to shop and save on gluten-free products. So far, I’ve written about Target, Local Grocery Stores, and Amazon.
The first few times I went to the grocery store, to read labels and learn what products were “safe” for my new gluten-free diet, it was very difficult. I was used to prepping my list ahead of time, shopping off the weekly grocery ads, and getting in and out of each store quickly. Suddenly, I had to read labels, but I also had all three kids with me (since it’s summer); it just didn’t work for me.
Then I attended that blogger event at Peapod, and once I tried their online grocery delivery, I was hooked. Not only could I shop in just minutes, in my pajamas sitting at my computer, but their Nutrifilter tool was so helpful to navigate the new world of gluten-free eating. While you can set the filter to any kind of specialty diet (low sodium, dairy-free, even Weight Watchers), I used the gluten-free setting. Each time I searched for a product, like soy sauce, it shows the filtered products (no gluten, in this case) in the top of the screen, and all other products at the bottom. Easy peasy!
Even when I’m planning to shop the regular local grocery stores, I log into Peapod to use that Nutrifilter on my grocery list and see what brands to look for.
