Consignment Sale Success!

As I promised Saturday, I’m sharing my results from the big consignment sale that my multiples group (FCMOM) held. With my planning and list, I had a clear idea of what I was looking for, and although I didn’t find everything (winter boots in my kids’ sizes, for example), I found LOTS of great clothes for the girls. I focused on brands I knew fit them well (even after washings and shrinking) and that held up, so I ended up with lots of Gymboree, Lands End, and Naartje. I ended up spending $91 for 35 pieces of clothing (and I’m counting PJs as one piece)–that comes out to just $2.60 per item! For ALL the details–and photos–I put them up in an album on my Facebook page. You can hover on each photo to read more. Go check it out!

A few more notes from Saturday’s sale:

  • More than once, someone commented, “Wow, you do what you say,” meaning they had read that morning’s post and seen me walking around with my list in hand. Yes, I do! That’s what keeps me on budget and not impulsively buying clothes or toys.
  • As a sale first, a woman went into labor while in line. It was very exciting! Last I heard, she went home and relaxed and things slowed down, but we’re still waiting to hear when the baby is born.
  • I estimate that I spent about 6 hours tagging all my items for the sale (I sold puzzles, clothing, board books, etc.). I did volunteer for the sale, so including that 4 hours, I ended up earning $22/hour since I made about $223 in sales. Not bad!
