Gift Card Deal at Giant and Stop & Shop

Through Thursday, June 14th, Giant and Stop & Shop stores are running a Father’s Day Gift Card promotion where you earn a $10 Catalina on your next purchase when you spend $50 on gift cards, excluding Giant/Stop&Shop cards. My store didn’t have any signage up yet, but the manager said it should work on all cards. I picked up $50 in Shell cards and got the $10 Catalina coupon that I can spend on my next transaction.

UPDATED: It looks like you only get the Catalina once per day. I found that out, unfortunately, by buying two sets of cards at once. Boo.

Think through what stores you’ll be shopping this summer–Lowe’s, Amazon, gas for car trips–and take advantage of this great deal!

  1. Martins (which is part of the same family of stores run by Giants) is also having this same promotion; I was able to receive multiple $10 catalinas by purchasing the gift cards one at a time. In other words, don’t make one purchase of $100 – instead, make two separate purchases of $50 each, and you should receive two separate $10 catalinas. The catalinas state on the back that you may only REDEEM one per day…..

    • That’s interesting. I bought the second $50 later in the day. I assumed it was that you couldn’t earn two in a day. Maybe it’s just that the Home Depot GC didn’t trigger it? What cards did you buy?

      • Hi Gina,
I conveniently live across the street from a Martins, so I’ve now gone a couple of times. I’ve purchased 5 rounds of Amazon.com gift cards (either 1 $50 or 2 $25) and one of the $60-for-$50 Outback packages. Each time, I made only one $50 gift card purchase, and each time I received a $10 catalina.
In addition, in separate transactions, I have been able to use two of the $10 catalinas to buy groceries. For the second transaction (about two hours after the first one) the cashier had to hit an override key for the catalina to accept, but it went through. I am not going to press my luck trying to use a third in one day – becuase I live so close, I can simply walk over after work thoughout the week to use my remaining catalinas.
I buy a lot of stuff through Amazon during the holidays, so this is a no-brainer for me! I hope to be able to pick up at least $100 more over the week :-)

I got a $25 Amazon and a $25 Subway, and the Catalina did not print. They gave me $10 cash, which is nice, but a pain to go to customer service when I’ve got all three kids with me.

Also, they had a correction sign that said the limit was “One per transaction, per household,” whatever that means? I’m hoping I can go a couple more times during the week.
