Welcome! I’m Gina, a stay-at-home mom of three kids, ages 9 and 6 and 6. Yes, I take the BOGO (Buy One, Get One Free) concept so seriously, I even had identical twins. I’ve spent the past few years working as a SAHM to “earn” money for my family through saving money, strategic shopping, and lots of lost-on-this-generation homemaking strategies.
Although I’ve always been frugally-minded, things really changed for our family when we moved to the Northern Virginia area in 2006 from Southern California, making a huge leap in lifestyle while retaining the high cost-of-living. Financially, we’re surviving on 45% of the salary we had before. Between the job change and the addition of the twins (they were 3 months old when we moved), my role is not too different than what I did in my last job. I was a grant administrator at a university, in charge of millions of dollars on various budgets working out logistics for grant-supported studies. My budget sure has changed, but the goal is the same: make it happen (organize numerous people, appointments, schedules, and projects) and do it within budget.
I spend time each week working to reduce our costs for household expenses. It really adds up! On this blog I share my strategies, tips for planning and organization, and ways to have FUN on a tight budget. I also do lots of great giveaways. Whether you’re a working mom, stay-at-home mom, or anyone else, these strategies can work for you. In fact, I’ve even been featured in the media a few times!
