Pokemon Binder Gift

I’m always looking for creative, frugal gifts for the many kid birthdays we celebrate with friends. For the past two years, most 5 & 6 year olds received the Frugal Kid Art Gift. Now, my son and his friends are all into Pokemon cards. For a long time, they were collecting–just amassing cards, sorting them and trading. Now, they finally play the card game as well. Rather than store extra cards in boxes or tins, my son and his friends like sorting them into a three-ring binder. We made one up for my son, and pretty soon his friends were asking how he made one. Voila–a quick & easy Pokemon Binder Gift for the next birthday boy or girl!

It takes just three things to make your own Pokemon Binder:

  1. 9-pocket plastic pages: easily found at Target or Walmart for under $5 (also available at Amazon). They’re usually near the front register where they stock baseball cards and collectible card games.
  2. Binder: best bought during back-to-school season, but there are occasionally freebie deals at Staples. Otherwise, they’re $2-4 at Target/Walmart. My kids decorated their own (see below).
  3. Pack of Pokemon stickers: found at Target/Walmart, the party store or elsewhere for about $1.99.

For under $10, we have a gift the friend can personalize and use to store Pokemon cards for years to come. It’s made it easier for my son and his buddies to carry them to each other’s houses for trading and playing. Gotta love organization disguised as a present!

I just tried pinning this multiple times and it wouldn't work (I tried the bookmarklet and direct pinning). Wonder if it's whatever is going on with your images . . .

I just fixed it, Cathy. I had to upload my photos to Photobucket first. Ugh, if I have to do that every day on every post, it's going to add hours to my week. Boo. I just don't understand why all of a sudden my images are all screwed up!
