Safeway this week 9/2

NOTE: Safeway deals are also applicable to their partner stores: Dominicks, Genuardis, Vons, Pavilions, Tom Thumb, Randalls, and Carrs. However, I base my write-up on the ad I receive in the Mid-Atlantic. Your prices and coupons may differ in your region of the country.

Have you seen the yellow tags on the store shelves? Safeway is doing a big push to lower prices overall on all kinds of products–all the weekly and Sunday ads show the new prices as well as the weekly sale prices. This is great news for our high cost-of-living here in the Mid-Atlantic!

Safeway Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast is $1.99/lb in the Extreme Value Pack. Not the lowest ever (sometimes it goes to $1.69-1.79), but not a bad stock-up price if you need chicken.

Sweet White Corn is 8 for .88.

Fresh Express Salads are BOGO at $3.49.

Shady Brook Farms Ground Turkey is BOGO at $3.99 for a 20.8oz. package. That comes out to $1.54/lb, way cheaper than ground beef! I use it mixed with ground beef for my meatballs and other Cooking Ahead meals.

Healthy Choice Meals are $1.99 each when you buy 5. There is a $1.00/2 coupon in the September All You Magazine, and you can print a $1.00/2 coupon.

There are several SuperCoupons in the ad, good through Tuesday, September 8th with minimum $20 purchase:

  • $2.00 off Butcher’s Cut 73% Lean Ground Beef Patties, limit 10. They’ll be $3.99 for a 40oz. package after the coupon.
  • Kraft Miracle Whip or Mayo $1.99, limit 2.
  • Kraft Singles .99, limit 1.
  • Safeway Fabric Softener $3.99, limit 1.
  • Dixie Value Pack Plates $2.99, limit 1.
  • Irish Spring or Softsoap $2.99, limit 1. There was a $1.00 off Softsoap BodyWash coupon in the 8/30 paper.
  • Kaboom Cleaners $2.99, limit 4.
  • Soft Scrub $1.99, limit 4. There was a $1.00/2 coupon in the 8/16 paper.
  • Duracell CopperTop Batteries $2.00 off. Be sure and add the $1.00 off eSaver coupon to your Club Card.

Chicken of the Sea Chunk Light Tuna is .79/can.

French’s Mustard is $1.50. Use this .50 off printable coupon.

Huggies Diapers Jumbo Pack is $9.99. You can use any manufacturer’s Huggies coupon you have, the $1.50 off coupon from the 8/16 paper or this printable $1.50 off plus the $1.50 off at Shortcuts to get it for $6.99. There’s also a $3.00/2 packs e-coupon at Cellfire. Remember that you can submit receipts for Jumbo Packs to Caregivers Marketplace for a .50/pack rebate.

Lay’s or Tostitos Chips are BOGO at $3.99. There’s a tearpad coupon out (I’ve seen it at Target) where you get a FREE jar of Tostitos Salsa when you buy two Tostitos Chips.

Nabisco Snack Crackers or Toasted Chips are $2.00/box. Use the $1.00/2 coupon from the 8/23 paper.

Safeway Hamburger and Hot Dog Buns are .99/bag.

Add E-coupons to your Safeway card three different ways at Shortcuts, Cellfire, and P&G eSaver. You can also print paper coupons at Safeway.com. I have used manufacturer’s coupons on products and still seen the e-coupon savings appear on the receipt.

For coupon matchups at stores nationwide, check out BeCentsAble’s Grocery Gathering. For the other Mid-Atlantic chains like Wegmans and Harris Teeter, head over to Frugal in Virginia.

Huggies Diaper Deal at Target

There’s a deal on Huggies Diapers that starts tomorrow and runs all week at Target. When you buy 3 Jumbo Packs of Huggies or Pull-Ups at $8.99 each, you get a $5.00 Target Gift Card. If you received the last mailer of Huggies coupons, there was a $3.00 off any Huggies coupon in there (that’s why you need to sign up for those diaper programs). These coupons are also good for this deal:

$3.00 off Pull-Ups
$2.00 off Pull-Ups
$2.00 off Pull-Ups from the 5/17 newspaper insert
$2.00 off Little Snugglers or Little Movers Diapers
$1.50 off any Huggies Diaper from the 5/17 newspaper insert

Use whatever coupons you have, but if you have three $3.00 off, you can do this transaction:

3 Huggies or Pull-Ups $26.97
-$9.00 manu coupons
Pay $17.97 and get $5.00 back, making each pack cost $4.32. That’s a good deal!

And–remember that you can mail your receipts in to Caregiver’s Marketplace and get a .75 rebate for each jumbo pack. More savings!

High Value Huggies Coupons

Coupons.com

Click on my Coupons.com toolbar above and print out your $5.00 off any Gentle Care and $3.00 off any Natural Fit Huggies Diapers. Remember to combine these manufacturer’s coupons with store sales or deals for extra savings. For example, starting tomorrow, you earn a $10 Target Gift Card when you buy two of the big boxes of Huggies between March 8-14. There’s also a great Register Rewards deal running at Walgreens when you buy $25 of Kimberly-Clark products (like Huggies). See details here at Moms Need to Know. Remember to send your Huggies receipts in for the Caregivers Marketplace rebate.

How to Bring Money In

Here at Mommy Making Money, most of the time I’m sharing strategies for saving money. Today I wanted to share some of the ways I bring in money. Even though it may not seem like a significant amount to some of you, I bring in some money each month to make a contribution to our family budget. You’ll know after reading here for while that I can do a lot with a small amount of money, so every little bit helps.

In January, I was able to contribute $189.90 to our monthly income with the following:

  • Gift Cards: When Safeway offered a $30 Gift Card when you brought a new/transferred prescription to their pharmacy, I picked up a few extra weekly ads at the store. Due to a rash of illnesses over the month, I filled three Rxs there, netting three gift cards worth $90.
  • Rebates: Compared to last year, I’ve really cut down on the number of rebates I do. I’m no longer submitting rebates for anything under $5.00; it’s just not worth my time. In January, I received a check from Caregiver’s Marketplace for my Huggies Pull-ups receipts and this Olay rebate, for a total of $28.
  • Returns (mostly clothing): And I need to point out that these were not Christmas gifts that I was returning! Do you have bags around the house with clothes that need to be returned? By finally getting those bags to the car and making the time to do the returns, I got $71.90 back.

In addition, we received a check for $389 from our mortgage company for overpayment to our escrow account over 2008. Extra income for the month of January was $579–now it’s starting to feel significant! Every dollar is extra money to put towards our financial goals for the year.

Now that we’re into February, I’m already on track to make a similar contribution to the budget. Besides a few more rebates and another gift card, I’ve also received my first payment from Ebates. Look for my review of Ebates next Wednesday (I like to test out a program before I share it with you, as I did with Swagbucks). I’ll plan on reviewing the February extra income for you at the end of this month.

Making Money on Rebates

I’ve mentioned rebates before as a method of bringing money in, and I often encourage you to send your Huggies diaper receipts into Caregivers Marketplace because it’s one of the easiest & fastest rebate programs around. As a general rule, though, I don’t like to rebates. I don’t like using what little time I have just to get back the low purchase price on most rebate items. On obvious moneymakers like the current Olay promo, though, it’s worth my time. Yesterday at CVS I bought the four products to qualify for the gift cards. Here’s how it breaks down:

2 Olay Regenerist Cleansers $11.98 (they’re Buy 1, Get 1 50% off at CVS this week)
– $5.00 off 2 coupon from the 12/14 paper
I paid $6.98 and qualify for the $15 Gift Card using this form. I’ll make $8.02 minus my stamp.

1 Olay Definity Scrub $8.99
1 Olay Definity Cleanser $8.99
- $5.00 off 2 coupon from the 11/16 paper
The total was $17.98; after the coupon, I paid 12.98 and qualify for the $15 Gift Card using this form. I’ll make $2.02 minus my stamp.

I almost ignored this rebate promo, what with all the Olay lotion I got from CVS.com for uber-cheap. But I thought these cleansers would make great additions to the next round of free-gifting bags I make up with my drugstore freebies in the new year. If you plan ahead these next few months, you’ll be ready for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, or end-of-the-year Teacher gifts.

CVS this week 11/9

Since last week was pretty dull at CVS, it’s nice having a few freebies this week:

Glaceau Smartwater 1 liter is $1.59 with $1.59 ECBs, back. FREE after ECBs, limit 1.

[Sunday and Monday only] L’Oreal Advanced RevitaLift Anti-wrinkle serum 1 oz. is $11.99 with $11.99 ECBs back. Also FREE after ECBs, limit 1. Last time they had a product like this free after ECBs, no one could find it. It was frustrating! I was one of many who emailed Customer Service to complain about it, and they sent me a raincheck in the mail to receive the product free when it came back in stock. If you have trouble this week finding the serum, go ahead and email CVS. Hopefully, the stores learned from that last experience and will stock more of this item. There was a coupon for $1.00 off any L’Oreal moisturizer in the 10/19 paper, making you a dollar on this deal.

[Sunday and Monday only] St. Ives Bodywash is $3.99 with $3.00 ECBs back, limit 1. Use this coupon for $2 off to make it a moneymaker.

Fructis Shampoo, Conditioner or Styler is $2.99 with $2 ECBs back, limit 1. There was a coupon for $1.00 off in the 10/5 paper (and many before that, they’re very common coupons), making this FREE after ECBs.

Palmolive Dish Liquid 11oz. is $1.49 with $1.00 ECB back, limit 5. There was a coupon for $1.00 off two in the 10/26 paper, making two FREE after ECBs (you actually make .02 on this deal).

Listerine Agent Cool Blue Tinting Rinse 500ml. is $3.99 with $3.00 ECBs back, limit 5. There was a coupon for $1.00 off in the 10/5 paper, or you can print this one, making this FREE after ECBs.

Other ECB deals:

Neutrogena MoistureShine Soothing Lipsheers is $5.99 with $3 ECBs back, limit 1.

Rimmel Mascara is $6.99 with $4 ECBs back, limit 1. There was a coupon back in the 9/14 paper for $1.00 off any Rimmel Cosmetic.

Pepsi or Dr. Pepper 12pks are 3 for $10 with $2 ECBs back on three, limit 1.

Buy $20 of Hershey’s Products on page 3 and get $10 ECBs, limit 1. I have coupons from the 9/14 paper for $2.50 off two bags of Hershey’s Bliss, so I’m going to get six bags of Bliss plus one Hershey Kisses for $2.50 after ECBs. Takes care of my Christmas stockings chocolate!

Buy $15 of Garnier Nutritioniste Skincare and get $5 ECBs, limit 1. There are coupons in tomorrow’s paper 11/9.

Other non-ECB deals:

Electrasol Powerball Tabs is $2.99, and you may have the coupon from the 10/12 paper, or you can print a coupon for .50 off.

Sun-Maid Raisins 18oz. and Sunsweet Apricots 16oz. are $2.50. There are coupons in tomorrow’s paper for $1.00 off two Sunmaid Raisins and $1.00 off two Sunsweet items.

Arrid Deodorant is BOGO at approx. $3.29. Arrid is never a part of the ECB deals, and it’s rare to find a coupon, so this is the lowest you’ll find this if you’re brand-loyal.

Huggies and Pull-Ups Jumbo Packs are on sale for $9.49. Use your higher-value coupons from their mailers or the $1.00 off coupon from the 10/26 paper. Don’t forget to submit your receipts for the Caregivers Marketplace Rebate.

Viactiv Soft Chews or Flavor Glides are $5.49, and there was a coupon for $2.00 off in the 10/12 paper.

Colgate Total Toothpaste 4.2oz is BOGO at $2.29. There were coupons for $1.00 off in last week’s paper 11/2 and the week before 10/26. Remember that you can use two coupons when you buy two products. If you have two coupons, you’ll get two toothpastes for .29.

Bayer Aspirin is $1.50, and there was a coupon for $1.00 off in the 10/26 paper.

Kelloggs Cereals are $2.00, and tomorrow’s paper 11/9 has a coupon for $1.00 off some of the varieties on sale.
