Two of the key ways I save are through couponing and shopping the loss leaders in the weekly grocery ads. Each week, I highlight the deals at my local grocery stores, Giant and Safeway. The Safeway deals below are often nationwide and also apply to the stores listed above in blue.
This week’s Safeway ad, running Wednesday through Tuesday, has a bunch of SuperCoupons. SuperCoupons are store coupons you can combine with manufacturer’s coupons for extra savings. Here are the best deals:
Arnold Natural & Country Variety Breads are $1.69 each with the SuperCoupon, limit 2. There was a .55 off coupon in the 1/4 paper.
Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks are 4 for $6.00 with the SuperCoupon, limit 4. Use the $1.00/2 coupon from the 2/1 paper, or print some .75/2 coupons at BettyCrocker.com, EverydaySaver.com, or Coupons.com. With two of those .75 off coupons, you’ll pay $4.50 for four boxes, plus there’s a Catalina promo that will give you a $2.50 off your next purchase coupon at checkout. You’re basically paying $2.00 for four boxes, or .50/box.
Kellogg’s Frosted Mini Wheats are 4 for $6.00 with the SuperCoupon. Use the $1.50 off 2 coupon from the 1/18 paper (two if you have them!).
Listerine Mouthwash is $1.99 with the SuperCoupon. Here’s a printable $2.00 off the TotalCare variety.
Phillips Shrimp Steamers are $4.99 with the SuperCoupon, and there was a $1.75 off coupon in the 1/25 paper, making it $3.24.
Red Baron Pizza Singles are $2.50, and there’s a SuperCoupon for $1.00 off two. Combine it with the $1.00/2 coupon from the 1/11 paper and pay only $1.50 each.
Russet Potatoes 5lb. Bag is $1.49 with the SuperCoupon.
Smithfield Marinated Pork Tenderloin is $4.99 with the SuperCoupon. There was a $1.00 off coupon in the 1/18 paper.

Asparagus is $1.68/lb.
Betty Crocker Cookie Mixes, Frosting, and Cake Mixes are Buy 2, Get 3 FREE priced from $2.15-$2.39. Use the .40 off Cookie Mix and .50 off Frosting coupons from the 2/8 paper or print these: .50 off Cookie Mix, .55 off Frosting, and BettyCrocker.com. You should try having your coupons scanned before you swipe your Safeway card, since that’s when the 3 Free applies. Some stores will not let you use coupons on the “free” items.
Coca-Cola 12pk Cans are $2.49 when you buy 5 or more. You can print a $1.00/3 coupon at Safeway.com. Buy 6 packs, use two coupons, and you’ll pay only $2.16/pack.
Hunt’s Canned Tomatoes are $1.00 each. Print this $1.00/3 coupon and you’ll pay .67/can for three.
Mission Tortilla Chips are .99 with the SuperCoupon, limit 1.
Smithfield Bacon is on sale for $2.50. Use the .55 off coupon from the 1/18 paper and pay only $1.95.
